# Changelog

Follow Tempo changes from proposals to network upgrades and node releases. Use the upgrade pages for protocol behavior and integration impact, and the release notes for node software changes.

## Proposals, network upgrades, and node releases

| Change record | What it describes |
| --- | --- |
| [Tempo Improvement Proposals](https://tips.sh/) (TIPs) | Proposed changes and their technical specifications. A proposal alone does not establish an activation date. |
| Named network upgrades (`T` upgrades) | Groups of protocol changes that activate on each network at a scheduled time. Upgrade pages link the specifications and explain integration impact. |
| [Node releases](https://tempo.xyz/developers/docs/changelog) (`v` versions) | Versions of the Tempo node software. A release can support a network upgrade or provide maintenance fixes without a protocol activation. |

## Testnet validation and mainnet activation

Network upgrades activate on Moderato testnet before mainnet. This gives node operators and application teams a place to validate the new behavior before mainnet activation.

Check the individual upgrade page for its activation timeline and integration notes. The [network upgrades and releases table](https://tempo.xyz/developers/docs/guide/node/network-upgrades) identifies the node releases operators need and their priority. Activation details and migration checklists are also shared through operator channels; [release notes](https://tempo.xyz/developers/docs/changelog) describe the software changes and link to release downloads.

## Prepare your node or integration

Node operators should install the compatible release on testnet, confirm the node syncs through activation, and update mainnet nodes before a required upgrade activates. Monitor logs and metrics after activation. Use the release's stated priority when planning maintenance updates.

Application teams should review the upgrade's integration notes and test affected transactions, reads, and gas estimates on the upgraded testnet.

See [upgrade cadence and rollout guidance](https://tempo.xyz/developers/docs/guide/node/upgrade-cadence) for the operator checklist, release priorities, and notification channels.
