Ondo’s U.S. Dollar Yield Token (USDY) is now live on Tempo. The integration gives platforms a Treasury-backed asset they can use in Earn products, treasury balances, and payment flows where funds may otherwise sit idle.

Tokenized Treasuries for payment flows

Stablecoin balances often sit between financial actions. A company collects revenue before settlement. Payroll funds wait to be disbursed. A platform prefunds a payout corridor to pay recipients on time.

These balances are part of the payments system, but they are not always productive for the businesses and users who hold them.

Ondo’s USDY gives eligible non-U.S. businesses and persons access to tokenized U.S. Treasury-backed yield through a freely transferable onchain asset. Bringing USDY to Tempo makes that asset available on a payments-first blockchain built for predictable, high-volume dollar movement.

For platforms building on Tempo, yield can now sit closer to the payment experience itself. Funds can earn while they wait to be spent, settled, paid out, or moved across borders.

What USDY enables on Tempo

Tempo is designed for payment applications that need speed, predictable fees, and reliable capacity. Transactions settle in under a second. Fees are denominated in stablecoins, so businesses do not need to manage a separate volatile gas token. Dedicated payment lanes reserve blockspace for payment activity, helping large payout runs and settlement flows stay predictable when timing matters.

USDY adds a Treasury-backed asset to that foundation. A wallet, neobank, payroll platform, merchant treasury tool, or financial application can use USDY as part of the balance experience customers already know: holding funds, earning on them, and moving them when needed.

This is where Tempo Earn fits. Earn helps platforms offer productive balances inside their own products, with assets tailored to their users, risk profiles, liquidity needs, and compliance requirements. Businesses can decide how rewards are shared while keeping funds connected to payments, payouts, card spending, and withdrawals.

With USDY on Tempo, platforms can integrate a transferable, Treasury-backed asset as a balance layer, collateral asset, or Earn option without sending users into a separate financial product. Tempo’s privacy, account policies, transfer controls, reward economics, and payment infrastructure help make that possible in real customer workflows.

Building with Ondo and Tempo

Ondo and Tempo are working together to make Treasury-backed yield easier to integrate into payment applications. USDY gives platforms another way to make balances useful while they are waiting for the next transaction.

“Bringing USDY to Tempo puts institutional-grade yield directly into the payments layer. Every business and individual transacting on Tempo can now hold dollars that earn between transactions, backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries. This is another key step toward establishing USDY as a core primitive of onchain finance.”

— Ian De Bode, Ondo Finance

“Global payment platforms already hold balances that sit idle between transactions. Launching Ondo’s USDY on Tempo enables them to put those balances to work,” said Eric Kang, GTM at Tempo. “Tempo Earn gives platforms control over how idle balances are used, and makes it simple to build rewards into existing products.”

This launch is part of a broader effort to make stablecoin balances more useful for businesses, platforms, and end users. More Earn assets, ecosystem integrations, and developer resources are coming soon.
