A person can earn a living or run a business without having the income documents or credit history a bank needs to approve a loan. For these customers, access to credit can mean covering an unexpected expense or investing in their work.
El Dorado partnered with Tala to bring that access into the wallet its customers already use to hold and move digital dollars. The offering will start in Bolivia, with more Latin American markets planned.
Borrowing inside El Dorado
At launch, eligible customers will see a pre-qualified offer in their El Dorado wallet. They will be able to choose an available loan amount, duration, and repayment date without pledging crypto as collateral.
Tala uses behavioral and alternative signals to assess borrowers, provides the capital, and takes on the credit risk. El Dorado provides the wallet and customer relationship. This lets El Dorado offer embedded credit without building and operating its own lending business.
Loans and repayments in stablecoins
Tala will disburse USDT directly to customer wallets on Tempo, with repayments returning on the same network. Tempo provides near-instant settlement for these onchain payments.
In this onchain credit model, Tala makes the lending decision and stablecoins carry the funds.
