Tempo Transactions are a new, native transaction type introduced in Tempo. They enable features like paying network fees in any stablecoin, batch and concurrent transactions, fee sponsorship, scheduled payments, and modern authentication using passkeys (FaceID, biometrics). This unlocks use cases like payroll, payouts, and subscriptions while allowing applications to offer seamless user experiences with low operational overhead and complexity. Learn more in our docs.

Stablecoins have enabled 24/7 settlement and lower-cost transactions. Tempo’s goal is to unlock the potential of stablecoins, with primitives for at-scale payments such as batching, scheduling, and complex payment workflows.

Tempo is built for moving money at scale and at low cost, with the operational efficiency banks, fintechs, and enterprises depend on. Tempo Transactions bring the modern payment mechanics that these businesses need onchain.

Building wallet infrastructure, we've gotten to work across a huge number of chains in the past. Partnering with Tempo to help them integrate the features we wish existed onchain has been very exciting. Integrated fee sponsorship, batching, and transaction memos stand to transform the developer experience building payments on blockchain. We're excited to support Tempo developers building with Privy to power these new use cases.

A native transaction type for modern payments

Enterprise payment systems rely on capabilities that traditional blockchains rarely provide out of the box: structured data, concurrency, and the ability to orchestrate many transactions within a single atomic workflow.

Tempo Transactions provide these capabilities natively. The functionality that real-world enterprise payment workflows require is built directly into the protocol:

With Tempo, these features are available and optimized at the protocol level, so that developers can focus on building payment applications instead of building around infrastructure gaps.

We've partnered with infrastructure providers including Crossmint, Fireblocks, Privy, and Turnkey, who are rolling out Tempo Transactions to help accelerate your development.

We're excited to partner with Tempo because Turnkey makes it possible for developers to build on Tempo using both legacy Ethereum transactions and Tempo's new EIP-2718 transactions with payload signing, including support for Tempo's native gas sponsorship.

Bringing real-world payments onchain

We worked with design partners across finance, commerce, and technology to understand the requirements of real-world payment systems. Tempo Transactions reflect these learnings.

The capabilities of Tempo Transactions reflect these learnings, providing the features necessary to bring a wide range of payment use cases onchain:

global-payouts

Payroll and merchant payouts

Batch transactions allow large payout runs to be processed efficiently and securely. Payments execute in a single atomic batch: the entire batch succeeds as a single transaction, eliminating partial failures and manual reruns.

Wallets and neobanks

Fee sponsorship removes gas from the user experience entirely. Combined with passkey authentication, users interact with a familiar fintech-grade interface with all of the blockchain complexity abstracted away.

As stablecoin adoption grows, platforms need flexibility in how fees are paid. Configurable fee tokens allow transaction fees to be paid in any USD stablecoin, while fee sponsorship enables merchants to offer seamless checkout experiences for users.

Introducing Tempo Transactions Post subs

Subscriptions

Scheduled transactions automate recurring payments and enable true subscription services onchain.

Tempo Transactions simplify what previously required significant developer effort. Batching and atomic execution are native—no custom smart contracts needed. Fee sponsorship is built in, so users don't need to hold volatile tokens for gas. Passkeys replace seed phrases. And scheduled transactions make recurring payments straightforward to implement.

Tempo Transactions give us the payment primitives our enterprise clients need while keeping integration simple. That means faster time-to-market for use cases like cross-border payments, global payroll, and neobank applications.
