Can banks issue stablecoins or tokenized deposits on Tempo?
Tempo supports institutional digital asset issuance, including stablecoins and tokenized deposits. The issuer defines the asset’s terms, eligibility, and controls. The TIP-20 issuance guides cover token creation, roles, and transfer policies. Use across institutions also depends on liquidity, conversion arrangements, and provider support.
Can banks use stablecoin settlement with existing Swift and ISO 20022 messaging?
Yes. Banks can design payment flows that retain existing instructions and confirmations while using stablecoins for settlement. Each instruction should link to its onchain payment for reconciliation. The setup requires counterparty agreements, wallet or custody infrastructure, and integration with the bank’s systems.
Can institutional balances and transactions stay private?
Yes. Balances and activity inside a Tempo Zone stay private from the public. The Zone operator can see the ledger. In a Tempo-hosted Zone, both Tempo and your institution have visibility. Deposits and withdrawals reveal the public-side address, token, and amount while hiding the internal counterparty. See the Zones documentation for deployment and access requirements.
Can a private Tempo Zone access public liquidity?
Yes. Private accounts in Tempo Zones can access public Tempo liquidity when the deployment supports the required assets and integrations. Actions on public Tempo remain visible, while the internal Zone account stays hidden.
How does Tempo support compliance controls for institutional payments?
Tempo provides issuer transfer controls and account policies to restrict permitted assets and counterparties. These controls support your institution’s onboarding, screening, monitoring, and reporting processes. Your institution and its service providers remain responsible for meeting applicable requirements.
